Cookie Policy
What cookies and similar technologies YourServiceCentre.com uses, why, and how to control them.
๐ Last updated: 14 May 2026This policy explains what cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them.
We only use cookies that are essential to make the site work, plus a small amount of privacy-friendly analytics to understand which pages are useful. We don't track you across other sites, we don't share your data with advertisers, and we don't use behavioural advertising cookies.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They're widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners.
We also use similar technologies like local storage and session storage, which work like cookies but store data slightly differently. For simplicity, we call all of these "cookies" in this policy.
2. What cookies we use
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the Data Use and Access Act 2025, we must tell you about every cookie we use and (in most cases) get your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
The April 2026 ICO guidance on storage and access technologies updated the rules slightly. Some cookies now don't need consent if they're solely for adapting our site to your preferences or producing aggregate analytics. We've still listed them below for transparency.
3. Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to work. You can't opt out of these because without them, the site simply won't function.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
ysc_session | Keeps you signed in to your account | Session |
ysc_csrf | Prevents cross-site request forgery (security) | Session |
ysc_consent | Remembers your cookie preferences | 12 months |
__stripe_mid | Stripe payment fraud detection | 1 year |
__stripe_sid | Stripe payment fraud detection | 30 minutes |
__cf_bm | Cloudflare bot management (security) | 30 minutes |
4. Functional cookies
These cookies remember choices you've made to give you a better experience. They're optional but make the site more usable.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
ysc_recent_reg | Remembers your most recent vehicle registration lookup so you can re-quote quickly | 30 days |
ysc_postcode | Remembers your postcode for collection arrangements | 6 months |
ysc_theme | Remembers if you've chosen light/dark mode | 12 months |
5. Analytics cookies
We use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how people use our site - which pages are most useful, where users get stuck, how the site performs. We use Plausible Analytics, which doesn't track you across sites, doesn't use third-party cookies, and complies with UK GDPR by default.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|
| None - cookieless | Plausible measures aggregate visitor statistics without setting any cookies or tracking individuals | N/A |
Because Plausible is cookieless and only produces aggregate statistics, under the April 2026 ICO guidance, this doesn't require consent. But we believe transparency is important so we're telling you anyway.
6. Marketing cookies
We do not use behavioural advertising cookies. We don't track you across other websites. We don't share your data with ad networks. We don't use Facebook Pixel, Google Ads remarketing, or similar tracking technologies.
If you sign up for our marketing emails, we use Postmark to deliver them. Postmark doesn't drop tracking cookies on our site. Emails contain a single tracking pixel that tells us whether you opened the email (a normal email industry practice). You can disable image loading in your email client to prevent this.
7. Third-party cookies
A few essential third parties may set cookies via our site:
Stripe (payments)
When you make a payment, Stripe sets cookies for fraud detection and to remember your card details for the payment flow. See Stripe's cookie policy.
Cloudflare (security and performance)
Cloudflare sits between your browser and our servers to protect us from attacks and speed up page loads. It uses some essential cookies for this. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Google Fonts (typography)
Our website uses Google Fonts to load the Inter typeface. Google Fonts doesn't set tracking cookies but does log the IP address that requested the font.
8. How to manage your cookie preferences
Our consent banner
When you first visit, we show a banner explaining our cookie use. You can:
- Accept all - all cookies described above will be used
- Reject non-essential - only strictly necessary cookies will be used
- Customise - choose which categories you accept
You can change your preferences any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the website footer.
9. Managing cookies in your browser
You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block cookies or delete them. Note: if you block essential cookies, our website won't work properly (you won't be able to sign in or pay, for example).
Browser-specific guides:
10. How long cookies last
Cookie lifetimes are shown in each table above. The longest non-essential cookie we use lasts 12 months. After expiry, your browser automatically deletes them.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this cookie policy when we change the cookies we use, or when guidance changes. The "last updated" date at the top shows when. Significant changes will be flagged in our consent banner.
